I wish you'd load photos on your blogs. It would make them all so much more interesting. I know for a fact that you take lots of pictures, so why not use them in your blogs?
Well, I do from time to time. But they're not really 'photoblogs', you know. Especially not the Barstool.
Also, I have a more particular technical problem at the moment, in that I am having to use a 'borrowed' computer for Internet access, and I don't want to download or copy over a whole bunch of my photo files on to it.
By the way, does your comment imply that my blogs are "interesting - but could be MORE interesting" or "boring - ANYTHING would make them more interesting!"?
To be totally honest, I have not read a single blog post in your "Barstool Blues" collection. However, I have read a few of your posted blogs on the Froogville and I like the way you write -always have. Some of the stories do seem hard to understand without enough background knowledge of certain things, but they are NEVER BORING. I don't think you could write anything boring even if you tried. So how was that for a compliment??? And me wanting pictures, is only because I am a very visual person and like to see pictures as stories are read.
I agree with Earthling - pictures would enhance. and I have often asked for pictures.
and froog has often ignored those requests. I can hardly complain. it's not like i ever share my pics with froog...
i am also amused that earthling would read the other blog and comment on it here... :) [though, of course I understand that this is a comment in response to a comment, etc...]
Have I met earthling? are you a beijinger? were you at the infamous party last march?
but earthling, i'm surprised you think froog doesn't provide enough background knowledge? I think he does a pretty dandy job of explaining himself. and if anything remains uncertain, a question in the comment box will evoke more details.
I see you have been commenting behind my back. About the background knowledge, it is not Froog who dosen't provide the knowledge, but me who has not read a lot of the posts. Not living in China, and not having a major in English literature, leave my knowledge bank less full than many of the other readers of Froog's blogs. On the subject of me reading Froogville and commenting at barstool, well, some links bring you over to barstool even if you are not a big drinker. And I am visiting barstool nearlly as often as Froogville.
Every bar is a memory.
And all the memories huddle together for company, so that in my mind it often seems as though every bar I've ever been in is on the same street, or at least in the same neighbourhood; every great drinking session I fondly recall happened on one night, or over the course of one weekend; and everyone I've ever drunk with fuses into a single person, the idealised Drinking Companion.
Sometimes it seems to me also that the melancholy that infuses so many of these memories had but a single cause, an idealised Lost Love.
Some of these memories I will now try to share with the enormous, faceless, blog-munching world at large.
These, then, are the mental voyages of the boozehound Froog; his many-year mission to seek out new drinks and new places to drink them in, to write The Meaning Of Life on a napkin.... andnotlose it on the way home.
Froog is an escaped lawyer - but there is no need for alarm; he is only a danger to himself, not to the general public. An eternal wanderer, he now lives in an exotic city somewhere in the 'Third World' *, where he is held prisoner by an unfinished novel (or, more precisely, an unstarted novel). He spends a lot of time running, writing, taking photographs, and falling in love with women who fail to appreciate him. He also spends a lot of time in bars.
[* OK, I'll come clean: I've been living in Beijing since summer '02.]

Maybe in the future....

If the latter - don't bother to read any more.
I don't think people who want pictures realize how challenged you are in the looks department, Froog, old chap.
I mean, I only agree to go out in public with you because I look like an Adonis in comparison.
Far be it from me to prick your bubble of fantasy, Cowboy.
But without the Stetson and the megabucks income..... I think I could give you a run for your money!
Hey, so, how was Limerick? So sorry I missed it.
If the stories are good enough, I might even give you a 'guest post' on here.

Hmmm, so you read the other blog, but leave your comments on THIS one??
Strange.

I like the idea of the blogs, both of them, being primarily 'literary'.
Pictures may be thrown in occasionally for variety or light relief, but they are never going to be a regular feature, I'm afraid.
