Not quite the same

My pal The Barman is contemplating a possible move into airborne hospitality. He says he figures that being a flight attendant must require a pretty similar skillset to being a barman, and he's got years of experience to draw on now.

"Well, there are some differences," I pointed out. "For instance, if someone's misbehaving, you can't just throw them out the door."

"Yes, that must be difficult," he conceded.

A good friend of mine used to be a male flight attendant. He said that there was no job in the world that lead to so much poontang. The overwhelming majority of his colleagues were simply not interested in female flesh, so the competition was much lower.

I did put this point to my Chinese friend (though not quite in such rough terms, of course), but he was uninterested. He would probably be applying to one of the foreign airlines (who don't have many Chinese staff, of either gender), and he's not really into foreign chicks. I suspect he might get over that after a few months in the job, though.
