My friend Ian Sherman, the rock music critic of Time Out Beijing, died last month, after a year-long struggle with cancer.
He was a 'top bloke', and a very, very funny writer, and is much missed by his many friends here in Beijing.
The back page of this month's edition of the magazine is devoted to a tribute to Ian. The anonymous author has been inspired to produce an obituary worthy of him: it is an exceptionally warm and amusing piece, and, quite simply, one of the best obituaries I've ever read of anyone.
Gallingly enough, it does not appear to be available on the website (although you can attempt to download a 'digital edition' of the entire magazine), but I do urge everyone to try to check it out.
