Great Drinking Songs (22)

I hadn't heard of Norwegian "deathpunk" band Turbonegro until recently, but their classic ranthem All My Friends Are Dead is becoming one of the highlights of Nigel's 'Special Mondays' down at my local, 12 Square Metres.  Sometimes, when you've had just a few too many beers, you want a jump-up-and-down shout-along like this to wake you up again a bit.

This is a fan video composed of clips of the cheerfully self-destructive Bam Margera and others of the Jackass crew.  Don't try this at home.  Or in the bar.  Or anywhere.

[And wouldn't this make a great theme song for a zombie film?]

These Monday nights sound fun. Sorry to miss them. Any other playlist favorites?

Alas, "our" Mondays are no more. The Big Man is going back to tour guiding. Last night was the end of an era.

The Ramones' cover of Tom Waits's I don't wanna grow up has been another great favourite lately. As has a track called Bread Van by an obscure British metal band of the '70s called Budgie who Big Nige has recently become a huge fan of. Elvis Costello's Pump It Up, too. And lots of The Clash.

Oh, so many good things! Getting used to JK's playlist again is going to be HARD.

Ah yes, and Grimskunk's America Sucks! - given heavy rotation by Nigel in a vain effort to dissuade our friend Sister Surly (most regular of all the Monday night regulars) from returning home.

I would occasionally counter with a request for America - fuck, yeah! from Matt and Trey's Team America - World Police movie.

Oh is THAT why he played it? I just assumed it was a general insult to my heritage. :)

Well, that too, probably.

Ah, he's BACK tonight. We'll raise a glass to you in absence.
